SPANISH
Students at Echunga Primary participate in Spanish lessons with the language teacher.
The focus of these lessons is to strengthen students’ literacy skills by learning a second language as well as to explore the cultural aspects of Spain and Europe. Students participate in hands on learning experiences which aim to develop an interest and receptiveness to other people, languages and cultures.
SCIENCE AND STEM
Recent research into the changing nature of education and the workforce, has highlighted that by the time our children graduate high school many careers will require skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
We provide all students with an opportunity to participate in lessons with a specialist teacher who encourages an interest in science as a means of expanding their curiosity and willingness to explore, ask questions about and speculate on the changing world in which they live.
Our students also have the opportunity to engage with technologies ranging from high tech robotics, coding and 3D printing to low tech, but equally important, cardboard and tangible materials that can be used to design and prototype.
We currently run an extracurricular STEM club for those students who demonstrate a particular interest in this topic.
